Congratulations to 6th class 2017/18 who were involved in the Pride of Place School Garden Scheme. They achieved Level 5, the highest grade that can be achieved. Today the current 6th class had the pleasure of officially collecting the plaque that will be displayed proudly in the school.
Next time you’re on the school grounds please feel free to take a walk among our beautiful garden and see all the care and hard work that has been put in throughout the year. Big thanks to Ms Galligan and Niamh Murtagh for making it happen.
We are holding our Bag2School Collection on Friday November 16th at 9:30am.
We will collect any bags you may have at the school on Friday morning until 10am. We hope to take your unwanted clothing and turn it into funds for the children. Not only do we get the cash benefit of our collection but Bag2School will donate an additional 10% to a very special charity, LauraLynn House.
Everyone enjoyed fantastic fun last week in celebration Maths Week Ireland 2018, a nationwide event. The children from 1st-6th Class were treated to Lego Enginneering Workshops from Learnit. The workshops were delivered in a well-structured, professional manner and they were a wonderful educational opportunity for the children. All classes were also involved in our first ever series of maths fairs. Thank you to Ms Flanagan, Ms Galligan & Ms Donnellan for all of the planning, preparation & hard work that went into making these events such a success. They were based around puzzles, problem-solving & ‘thinking outside the box’ and the children enjoyed the challenges involved and awarded a 5-star rating to the events! 🙂
What a day for a marathon relay. No ice this year to hamper the runners or rain to dampen the excitement of the kids. The race was on, but this year a surface change and a move to the grass.
2hr 31 mins 17secs was the time to beat so the challenge was on. More children participated this year with some teachers and parents also taking part. It was the children that done the most of the leg work, completing 100’s of laps of the circuit to reach that 42km target.
After a long school day with a huge amount of leg work put in by the kids the challenge was done.
2hrs 31mins 50secs
So close to last years time but a super effort none the less. It’s all about the taking part that counts and the kids had a super day and could have ran an ultra marathon with all the energy and running speed that was on display.
Thanks to all the volunteers for organizing such a great day, parents that turned up to support, parents & others that supported by sponsoring the kids, Chalkbox for their event sponsorship, teachers that helped and most of all the kids for their high energy and super effort. This fundraiser provides great support to the school and directly benefits our kids in learning support and extra curricular activities.
