Olympian Excitement!!
We were delighted to have Derval O’Rourke take time out of her busy training schedule to visit our school. She was here to help launch our Lismullen Fun Run and also to answer the many questions our children had about athletics. Derval was very informative and spoke about healthy eating, exercise and the commitment required to be part of the Irish Olympic team. No visit would be complete without autographs signed and photos taken! We would like to thank Derval for enthusiastically embracing this.
We will all be watching and cheering for her on 6th and 7th of August when she goes for gold!

Official Launch of our Fun Run
This Friday marks the launch of our Family Fun Run. A very special guest will visit the children and help launch our run. It can now be revealed that it will be, Irish Olympian, Derval O’Rourke who will be our guest. We look forward to meeting her and wishing her well on her quest for an Olympic medal for Ireland.
Science Open Day
As part of our effort towards obtaining a second Science Excellence award we held a Science Open Day today. Children from every class demonstrated two experiments for all classes. Later in the day, parents had the opportunity to view and question the children. Despite the short notice, a huge amount of parents turned up and were suitably impressed. Well done to all.

Our wonderful Parents’ Association have organised a Family fun run on Sunday 27th May. There will be two routes available, a 3km and a more challenging 10km route. The run starts and finishes at our school. More information can be found at the facebook page.
Professor of Chemistry Visits Lismullen
We were delighted to welcome Professor Senge from Trinity College Dublin to our school. He concentrated on the Junior classes and hopefully he will return to visit the Senior classes before the end of term. He came laden down with liquid nitrogen and other scientific goodies! and showed how science is fun with children making ice-cream and erupting volcanoes!
Photos of the fun can be viewed in the First class section.
Visit from a scientist
First Class had a great day on Wednesday when a visiting scientist from Trinity College showed us how to make ice-cream. It tasted really good.
Signs of Spring
First Class went hunting for signs of spring last week. We found flowers, buds on the trees and little insects around the trees. There were beautiful snowdrops and daffodils growing in the ditch. We also took tree rubbings and collected various treasures for our nature table.
