To celebrate the end of Science Week, we made some floating ghosts.
Second Class get into the ‘spirit’ of things for Hallowe’en.
We had 21 new furry pupils on Tuesday. They wrecked our library, pulling books off the shelves but calmed down when we went outside for a picnic. We had a great time.
First Class had a great time attending various Science Week events organised by Ms. Quirke last week. On Monday Shona showed us some great experiments:
– She helped us test the sink/float properties of fizzy drinks & we noticed that those with lots of sugar sank!!
– She showed us how salt water causes things to float using raw eggs
– She demonstrated the pH levels of many products found around the home
On Wednesday we had a great day in 6th Class as they demonstrated all kinds of experiments to us.
On Thursday we were treated to the innovative Paul Finch, who showed how lots of old materials could be used to make machines. Using pedal power he operated the following:
– a light, a fan, a bubble-machine
– he charged his phone
– playing a tin whistle
– whizzed a smoothie
The children had a great time & then enjoyed tasting the yummy smoothie.
Thanks to Ms. Quirke, Ms. Lyons, 6th Class and all the special guests for a SUPERB SCIENCE WEEK 🙂
