The weather was kind to us last Friday as we made our way to Newgrange to see the wonderful ancient passage tomb. The children were thoroughly engaged by our tour guide Gerry who further explained the historical importance of the site. Making our way inside the tomb to the central chamber was the highlight of the day.
Fourth Class studied some of the large buildings of the world in English during the month of October. To explore elements of building, balance, structure etc. we also did some construction in arts & crafts. Here are some pictures of this great work in progress.
Weeks of planning and preparation went into the organisation & running of this year’s Senior Maths Fair for Maths Week Ireland 2018. Huge thanks to Ms Galligan’s class who ran the maths fair simultaneously, allowing more classes to enjoy the experience. Ms Donnellan also kindly ran the 1st & 2nd Class Maths Fair & we owe her huge thanks too. Fourth Class spent many days investigating and solving the maths puzzles in groups and fairs to begin with. They then organised themselves into groups and planned the presentation of each maths puzzle. A couple of days of poster making and decorating followed.… READ MORE
The children in 4th Class made a particularly special effort to organise a maths fair that was suitable for Junior and Senior Infants. They were amazing with these children, the youngest members of our school community. They displayed kindness and patience as the children solved maths puzzles which were carefully pitched at their level. The children should all be very proud of themselves!! Even Mr O’Donoghue arrived to try some puzzles 🙂
The children in Fourth Class were busy bees in the run up to Maths Week organising both a Junior Maths Fair for Junior & Senior Infants and a Senior Maths Fair for 3rd/6th Class. We were thrilled & most grateful to be assisted by Ms Galligan & Ms Donnellan’s classes, who each ran a maths fair too. With all this activity and hard work the children thoroughly enjoyed some down-time when Rob and Niamh from Learnit arrived to host our Maths Week Lego Engineering Workshops. It was an interesting and informative learning opportunity for the children and they enjoyed every moment!… READ MORE
Fourth Class have been studying many aspects of stone age life over the past few weeks. The highlight was our trip to Newgrange to see the ancient passage tomb. The children were awestruck with the wonder & historical importance of the site. We were met with stormy winds and a few showers but it didn’t dampen spirits and we had a wonderful day.
Well done to 3rd and 4th class for helping to create a fun and wonderful sports day.
