Fourth Class Ms Flanagan

On Monday, we travelled to Dublin to take part in a Writers’ Workshop for primary schools at Fighting Words Dublin. Fighting Words facilitates a workshop based on imagination and creativity. The structure allows for students to participate both orally and through writing, which means there is a way for everyone to get involved and have a great time inventing new stories. Volunteer mentors work with the children to identify key elements of a story. Each child left the Fighting Words Workshop with  a printed copy of their class story as a keepsake for them to share with friends and family.

4th Class marked Valentine’s Day this year by making some beautiful clay candle holders. I think you’ll agree that they did a wonderful job with them. Happy St. Valentine’s Day 🙂

Here are the 4th Class nominees for Student Council. Well done to them all for running such a wonderful election campaign.

4th Class children who were nominated for Student Council worked hard on their election campaign & produced a wonderful array of posters for display in the run up to the elections.

4th Class have been enjoying exploring the novel The Boy at the Back of the Class. The book documents the life of a young Syrian boy as he settles into life in a London school. The story is told through the eyes of those he encounters and as the book progresses, we learn how much Ahmet has endured in order to survive. It’s a wonderful read and it has allowed us to explore so much about the world around us.

4th & 5th Classes were lucky enough to be invited to Leinster House for a tour of the Dáil & a meeting with the Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee. We are so grateful for the time that the Minister gave us & all the efforts went into organising this trip. Thanks also to Laura Mulligan, 5th Class, who made this trip happen thanks to the wonderful letter which she wrote congratulating the Minister on her great work.

When you’re on your way to Leinster House to meet the Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee, and you find this little gem of a playground in Merrion Square Park…..

An interesting array of costumes adorned our classroom this year in honour of our Annual Halloween Dress-Up. Well done to all those who also carved a pumpkin for the school pumpkin carving display.

4th Class enjoyed many fun activities for Maths Week 2022. We played lots of games based on maths & logic & we ended the week with a very competitive mathematical table quiz.

The sun shone brightly as we set out to break our School Marathon Run record. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be this year, but we had so much fun in our endeavour. Congratulations & thanks to all those involved in organising this wonderful, annual event.
